The Lexington Baptist Prayer Ministry encourages the development of a personal prayer life and provides church members with various opportunities to be involved in the ministries of intercession. Each year (usually in September), members are given an opportunity to commit to a particular prayer ministry.

Intercessory Prayer Ministry (IPM)
The IPM is a 24-hour ministry of intercession before the Lord on behalf of our church and its ministries, staff, and every member; foreign and home missions; and our community, state, nation, and world. Praying for revival and spiritual awakening, for the spread of the Gospel, and for the salvation of souls is the heart of the IPM. There are three ways to commit to involvement in the IPM: 1) As a weekly intercessor praying in the Intercessory Prayer Room one hour a week; 2) As a substitute for a weekly intercessor; and 3) As a Night Watch intercessor praying for one hour a week between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. in your home. Each intercessor must be 18 years or older, a member of Lexington Baptist Church, have a sincere desire to serve through intercessory prayer, attend one orientation session, and be committed to the confidentiality of each prayer request.

Prayerwalking Ministry
Prayerwalking is praying at the actual place we desire our prayers to be answered. It is done quietly and reverently in neighborhoods and at specific sites in small groups (2-4). Simple verbal or silent prayers are prompted by the Holy Spirit and all that is seen as we are "on site". It is "bowing our heart" before the Father for those hurting, broken, and lost. There are three opportunities for involvement: 1) Prayerwalking our neighborhoods; 2) Prayerwalking area schools; and 3) Prayerwalking on a national or international mission field.

Ministers’ Prayer Partners
LBC members may choose to pray for a minister on a daily basis and/or serve on a team that prays during either the 9:30 or the 11:00 worship service once a month in the Open Door Prayer Room. An orientation session before beginning is required.

Moms in Touch
Two or more moms who meet during school hours for one hour each week to pray for their children (preschool – college), their schools, teachers, and administrators. Moms in Touch groups meet weekly at a specific location for each school.

Children’s Prayer Ministry
Specific called events by the Children’s Minister for the purpose of prayer.

Open Door Prayer Room
The Open Door Prayer Room is a room in the Adult Education Building set aside for prayer by individuals or prayer groups.

Missions Prayer Team
Probably the oldest known organized prayer group at LBC, this group is open to anyone who is committed to a corporate missions prayer time on a weekly basis. A wide age span participates, and all are blessed when short-term mission teams are commissioned before departure and then share after their return how prayers were answered on the field. Intercession includes requests from missionaries worldwide, mission teams from LBC, and concerns for mission matters generated within LBC. The group meets each Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in Room 406AEB.

Global Missions Prayer Ministry
Designed to support the work of LBC’s local, national, and international partnerships through intercessory prayer, this ministry also provides prayer support and encouragement to our own LBC missionaries on the field, or those who are in process or just returning from field service. Via email, we are able to receive urgent requests and praise reports daily. As we intentionally target areas with prayer, we expect to see God move and do miraculous things. You may commit to one hour or one-half hour weekly in the Global Missions Prayer Room, or by being available as a substitute. Intercessors are 18 years or older, LBC members, and must attend an orientation session.

Prayer for Revival & Spiritual Awakening
This group meets in the Open Door Prayer Room on Wednesday nights during PSG class time. Our desire is to intercede for the Body of Christ (the Church) to experience 2 Chronicles 7:14 in order that God might send true revival and spiritual awakening to our local church, our community, our state, and our nation.
